Compromise
When we searched for a place to live we had a wish list but knew we might have to compromise.
What I wanted
▫️updated kitchen
▫️washer and dryer in unit
▫️safe area
▫️top floor
Simple really. Not too picky.
Well in the end we didn't get the first 2 things we wanted. After searching we realized we wanted to live in an area that was walkable. I also wanted to live close to work until I got used to city traffic.
1st area was in a industrial area. The 2 apartments we looked at met all the requirements except questionable safe area. They were very nice places though.
Another apartment we looked at was during rush hour and the evening. Traffic was too bad.
Another area was trendy and had too many bars. Bars = rowdy party people. We didn't want to live near that.
The last area is amazing but with older homes and apartments. My husband loved the character of these places. A lot of the places were way too tiny. I cringed at the outdated kitchens and bathrooms. In the end though we chose this area and the outdated rooms because of the neighborhood. It's a neighborhood full of millionaires. The neighborhood is very walkable and safe. Plus I'm close to work.
We don't have a dishwasher -- boo hoo. Not even a garbage disposer. We have a shared laundry room -- ugh. I think I'll be buying more clothes. Lol
I can't wait to furnish and decorate!
